Welcome
I’m Milah - a Clinical Social Work Associate with an MSW. When I’m not with clients, reading or doing art, I’m exploring the beautiful outdoors with my dog Raven.
I have lived many lives in this one, and it has all led me to my current life which involves love of the wild, profound beauty, and rebellious joy. While there are many things in my life I’m proud of, I feel my greatest accomplishment has been shaking off old, rigid belief systems, engaging with the profound healing of emotional and ancestral trauma; and learning to follow my own intuition, natural instincts and intelligence - an area of continued growth and realization.
I believe in each individual’s innate wisdom, unique ingenuity and brilliance. I am passionate about work that is heart centered and allows for individuals to bring all of themselves into a space, free of judgment or shame. I love empowering clients to find their own center of gravity and true north so that they can live in a way that feels meaningful and deeply fulfilling to them.
Approach
My philosophy as a therapist comes out of decades of experience as a mystic and contemplative while working alongside people from different communities around the world. My approach is holistic, collaborative, culturally sensitive, trauma-sensitive and strengths based – taking into account the many elements and forces in our lives that we have to navigate even as we seek healing. Core to it is helping people reintegrate themselves and rediscover their wholeness. Just like the natural world, each person has a profound intelligence, beauty, and creativity.
I am committed to decolonizing therapy by exploring oppression that has been culturally conditioned, resolving and healing personal and intergenerational trauma, and cultivating and strengthening resilience. Through deep listening and reflection, I help clients clarify their own thoughts, feelings, and needs with regards to their situation, and to find the path forward that feels most natural and most true to themselves. I draw on many different psycho therapeutic frameworks and tools. The developmental stage of young people is always considered, and sessions will be unique to each person. I am honored to work with individuals of all ages, identities, and backgrounds.
Experience
I have MSW and experience working with children, teens, adults and families. Prior to my graduate program, I worked for 15 years as a coach and consultant. And before that I taught preschool and elementary school. I have several decades experience as a mystic and contemplative. I’ve learned from and worked with leaders, businesses, and organizations dedicated to the environment, social justice, and personal transformation. Most importantly, I have lived knowledge and understanding which come from navigating and healing extensive childhood trauma, grief and loss, as well as cult recovery.
